CHRYSLER - this includes: Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep (since 1983)

Until recently, all Chrysler cars and trucks have had their three character paint code stamped on a 2" X 3" metal plate riveted somewhere under the hood.  Usually, they have it attached to the radiator core support, sometimes on the fender liner - I've even found it behind the battery on an older Dodge van.  On this plate are 5 - 7 rows (depending on the year) of various number and letter combinations.  The series we need is second and third from the left, on the second row from the bottom.  The plate would normally read:  "XXX  PW7  QW7 XXX"; this series denotes a car with both the upper (P) and lower (Q) colors being white (W7).

Later model cars from Chrysler - especially the imports - have the code printed on a sticker in the driver's side door jamb (sometimes on the lower bottom edge of the driver's door).  On this tag, in very fine print on the bottom of the sticker near the center is usually noted: "Color Code PW7"

The only part of the car that seems to defy color recognition is the lower (cladding) colors.  These are secondary colors that are used to give the vehicle that "two-tone" effect, but Chrysler seems to have forgotten to specify just what color they used on these areas.
